      1. To condemn the sinner (Romans 3:19; Romans 4:15; Galatians 3:10, 21-22)
      2. To prepare the heart of the Israelites for the faith of Christ (Galatians 3:23-26)

      1. Exodus 20 to Malachi 4 (to some extent, includes some of the material in the gospels)
      2. Begins with the giving of the law at Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:1-20:21)
      3. Goes up until the time of John the Baptist (Luke 16:16)
      4. Lasts for about 1500 years
    3. Condition
      1. The Gentiles
        1. Outside the covenants (Romans 9:4-5; Ephesians 2:11-12, 19)
        2. Ignorant (Acts 14:15-17; Acts 17:30)
        3. Without law but not without conscience (Romans 2:12-15)
      2. The Israelites
        1. Their privilege

    9. Change – the transitional man at the end of the dispensation of Law is John the Baptist (Luke 16:16).  He is so important that a separate section will be given to him.
