The priests had already been divided into twenty-four courses in order to organize their work more efficiently. Now, the Levites who cared about the service of the temple, the porters, are organized in the same way.

Paul and his companions, after being shipwrecked on the island of Melita, do much good there. Paul finally arrives at Rome where he stays in a house under guard. He quickly presents himself to the Jews of Rome but receives little welcome.

The psalmist has been envious of the prosperity of the wicked (Psalm 73:3). In this passage, he entered the sanctuary and God revealed the end of the wicked. The psalmist realized his own foolishness, repented of his sin, and put his trust fully in the Lord.

David organized the priests into twenty-four orders or courses so that they could take turns doing the office of the priest. He also divided the Levites who were not of the priestly line of Aaron into orders.

The Israelites are instructed to offer the firstfruits of the land of Israel to the Lord and to give the tithe of the third year for the needy. This chapter closes by affirming the special relationship Israel has with God as His peculiar and holy people.

As he continued to prepare for Solomon

Though the Israelites had become unclean, yet by their obedience to the Lord in building the temple they will bring blessings upon themselves both in the near future and in the time to come.

David prepared for the temple God would not allow him to build. He collected materials and charged Solomon and his princes to build the house of the Lord.
