The Myth of Two Masters
Many people today are attempting to live for the world while making claims of being a servant of God. The only problem is that according to scripture we cannot serve two masters. May we be like Joshua who said, "but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
Knowledge and Mystery
As we advance from the lowest scale of being to the highest, we find that every rank calls that above it a mystery...
Traditions Against the Commandments of God
The pernicious tendency of these traditions is very strikingly illustrated, in one of our Lord’s discourses...
The Bible Doctrine of Preservation
Have you ever wondered if the Bible that you have has errors in it? Can we find the word of God today or has it been lost in the original languages? Is it even important to know whether we can find the words of God? Let's allow the Bible speak for itself.
The Prayer of Solomon (Daily Portion 10502)
This chapter records the prayer of King Solomon at the dedication of the newly built Temple in Jerusalem. This portion deals with his approach unto God and the beginning of his prayer. Solomon first blessed the congregation and then blessed the name of the Lord. Then, He reminded the Lord of promises yet to be kept. We can learn much from the prayer of Solomon.
A Devoted Servant (Daily Portion 10501)
Moses came to the end of his life after viewing the land of Israel from Mount Pisgah. The “servant of the LORD” finished his life for God and was buried by Him. He was a special kind of prophet who knew the Lord face to face. He showed the signs of God to Israel and to Egypt. Even at 120, his eye was not dim and his natural force was not abated. He was truly a special man of God.
The Day of Redemption (Daily Portion 10428)
The day of redemption for Israel will be a day of refreshing from the Lord (v.1), a day of removal of false prophets (v.2-5), a day of remembrance of the rejected shepherd (v.6-7), and a day of refining for the remnant of the people (v.8-9). It is the day when the people of Israel will say, “The LORD is my God.” We can all rejoice in what a day that will be!
The Closing of Moses' Blessing (Daily Portion 10424)
In these verses, Moses blesses the three remaining tribes: Dan, Naphtali, and Aser. Then, he exalts the greatness of God and declares the happiness of Israel as the people of God. This passage is a fitting close to the blessing of Moses the man of God (Deuteronomy 33:1).
Unrighteous Judgment in the Land (Daily Portion 10419)
This psalm laments the lack of righteous judgment in the world. The judges judge unjustly and the poor and needy are afflicted. But God promises to judge the judges. He will destroy the unrighteous judges and will righteously judge the inhabitants of the earth Himself. Then, all judgment will be righteous judgment.
The Wisdom of Solomon
Solomon had the opportunity that many would love to have. He could ask anything that he wanted of God. Solomon's request tells us much of him.
