  • Sunday’s Sunday School Lesson was “Spies to Search the Land” from Numbers 13:1-33.  This coming week’s lesson will be “Forty Years in the Wilderness” from Numbers 14:1-45.  The chapter can be outlined as follows:
    1. The whole congregation rebels (v.1-5)
    2. Joshua and Caleb speak up (v.6-10)
    3. Moses intercedes for the people (v.11-20)
    4. God judges the congregation (v.21-39)
    5. The congregation now tries to obey (v.40-45)
  • Brother Reagan’s Sunday morning message was titled “Before You Can Follow Christ” and was taken from Luke 9:23: “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”  His points were:
    1. You must know where He went (Heb 12:1-2; 13:12-13)
    2. You must be willing to go – “If any man will” (Lev 1:3)
    3. You must deny yourself (Jer 45:5; 1Cor 9:24-25)
    4. You must take up a cross (2Tim 2:3; Gal 5:11)
    5. You must take up your cross (Ac 20:24; 1Pet 4:11)
    6. You must take your cross daily (1Cor 15:31; Ps 90:12)
    7. You must follow Him (Heb 12:2)
  • The Sunday evening message was on the seven-sealed book of Revelation 5:1-4.  Pastor Reagan finish the chapter in following weeks.  The chapter has four divisions:
    1. The book that was sealed (v.1-4)
    2. The Lamb that was slain (v.5-7)
    3. The song that was sung (v.8-10)
    4. The praise that was spoken (v.11-14)
  • Jim Seaton, pastor of Ball Road Baptist Church, preached at Monday Night Chapel.  His message was from Romans 10:13-15.
  • John Paul Nichols preached at chapel on Tuesday evening.  He preached from Genesis 6 on the faithfulness of Noah in a time of corruption.

  • Westminster Abbey in London, England, has a room called the Jerusalem Chamber.  Its name comes from the Holy Land tapestries which hung in it when it was first built in the 14th century.  This room was the scene of the translation of the King James Bible in 1611.
  • Fifty-four years after the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the caves above Qumran, the complete text of the scrolls has finally been published.  Despite many claims to the contrary, nothing has been found that changed the authority of the Bible in any way—Old Testament or New Testament.
