Announcements

  • Randy Williams will be preaching on Wednesday evening this week
  • We will have a special meal at the church on Saturday, April 13th.  The losers in the March Penny March for Bibles (men or ladies) will bring the food, serve the meal and clean up afterwards.  The present score is two for the boys and one for the girls.  This will change Sunday morning.
  • King James Bible Believers’ Conference will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Knoxville on June 10th and 11th.

Church Ministry

  • Long-term church requests:  Pray for the Lord to open the door for a juvenile ministry at Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center.  Pray that the Lord will provide us with a mission’s house for use with missionaries, evangelists, etc.

Church News

  • This week, Nalanie Soon and David Lohman participated in competition for their school, Knoxville Baptist Christian Schools, in the state competition in Middle Tennessee.  They were both on the Bible quiz team.  The quiz team had won the regional and came in sixth in the state.  We are very proud of them.  Nalanie also participated in the spelling and won the state competition.  She will be going to the national competition later.  Now, instead of trying to remember: “I replaces E except before T” (or whatever), just ask Nalanie how to spell it.
  • Our air conditioning unit down stairs has been repaired.
  • We are looking for the best way to put a gate up in the back parking lot.  Any ideas or contacts you may have will be appreciated.
  • Pastor and Mrs. Reagan are researching the Independent Baptist Church Movement in the Knoxville area.  We are especially interested in information and pictures about these churches between 1930 and 1970.  Churches that we know existed fairly early include Bible Baptist Church, Memorial Baptist Church, North Hills Baptist Church, Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle, Gospel Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church (now on Woodrow).  If you have any information about these or other churches or know who might, please let us know.

Missions

Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation (Bob Lemmon)

  • Reports that almost 60,000 Bibles and portions and almost 60,000 tracts have been printed in the last three months
  • Gave information on a ministry called People of the Book.  It is an independent, fundamental Baptist ministry that concentrates on reaching the Muslims for Christ.  Besides preaching on the need to reach Muslims, they have short (1-2 hour) and more extensive (6-8 hour) Muslim Outreach Training.  I do not personally know these people but know the ministry is needed.  Their contact information is: David W. Mowen, Director, 239 Turkey Creek Road, Tullahoma, TN 37388, Phone 931-455-2554, e-mail: [email protected]

Mark Stephens and family (Jews in England)

  • Are now in Great Britain and getting settled in Norwich in Norfolk.

Tim and Michele Faulk (Philippines)

  • Advance trip to the new location in Cebu City very profitable
  • Continuing plans to establish church and Bible institute there

Mike Dobbins and family (Zambia)

  • About to receive the title to the deed on their property so they can put up a church building.  Pray that all goes well.

March Bible Offering (Penny March in March)

  • Money going to this special offering may be given in three ways:
    1. Special Offering Envelope
    2. Wednesday Night Offering
    3. Sunday Morning & Evening Penny Marches
  • Our total so far is $1248.06 with two Sundays to go.  We are praying for $2000.
  • This will purchase about 300 Bibles in Zambia and the Philippines

Preaching/Teaching

  • Brother Reagan preached Wednesday evening from Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 on Sowing the Seed.  His outline was:
    • What Does It Mean?
    • What Can We Do?
      • Sow Good Seed (Isa 55:10-11)
      • Sow More Seed (2Cor 9:6)
      • Sow With Prayer (Ac 4:31; Col 4:3-4)
      • Sow With Tears (Ps 126:5-6)

Web Site

  • The web site, www.LearntheBible.org, now has about 93 total pages and it is growing.
  • Received nice letter from a man who lives in Great Britain but was born in Iran.  He is a Christian who has become a King James Bible believer.  He said that he and others have been helped by The Tale of Three Cities: How the Bible Versions Began.
  • Received call Friday from a pastor in Virginia who has been dealing with people who think they can lose their salvation.  Someone sent him a portion of How to Lose Your Salvation.  He wants to preach the outline and get the rest of the message.

Did you know?

  • That a century ago, Chinese men wore their hair in long pigtails as a sign of submission to the Chinese emperor?  If they cut them off, it was an act of rebellion against the state.
  • The Antioch Baptist Church was founded as Trinity Baptist Temple by a group of people out of Bible Baptist Church, the first independent Baptist church in Knoxville?
